Here you will find a detailed breakdown of my Gardner Douglas MkIV project. This is where the rubber meets the road, so to speak, detailing the unique aspects that make this build truly mine.

This was the tricky one as it is so easy to get immersed, sidetracked, mesmerised and overwhelmed with "stuff." To counter this, I created a basic list of my required and desired elements; they being less than the sum of the whole, and they being the pieces of my puzzle that had a well-defined but ever-changing picture..

So here's my Car's Specifation

Body Shell:

  • Gelcoat (Jet Black (RAL9005))

    • Dashboard: Flat-bottomed and based on the classic 427 S/C configuration
    • Dials: Speedhut
    • Switches: Old-fashioned Bakelite type (black)
    • Warning Lights: Chrome LED
    • Accessory Outlets: One 12v (cigarette type) and one 2-port USB socket
    • Footwell lights: LED
    • Steering Column Stalks: Standard Vauxhall black plastic type that came with the column. (I didn't replace them in favour of the GD polished steel option)

    • Black carpet and Silver Pearl leather trim (grey SX026)
    • Dashboard: Initially black vinyl and padded (for IVA), but I will be replacing it with Silver Grey leather and no padding (post-IVA)

  • Fan: 16-inch curved blade (Pull)
    • Note: I've also fitted a complementary pair of ECU-controlled 9-inch 'Push' fans in front of the radiator. See the Electrics - Modifications article for details.
  • Hoses & Connectors: Viper Performance
  • Manual heater valve controller (CBS)

Differential: BTR Hydratrack speed-sensitive limited-slip differential (3.07:1)

Engine: Built and Supplied by The Engine Factory (USA Company)

Wheels: 8.5 x 18” front, 10 x 18” rear. Halibrand GTD5 Classic build (all chrome) with a cover plate for 5-stud fitment and spinners
